The Story Behind
Our Shelter Home
India, with a population exceeding 1 billion and accounting for nearly 17% of the world's population, has seen remarkable progress in health, strength, and poverty reduction over the past few decades. However, this development has not been equally shared by all members of society. The individuals who contribute most to society often reap the greatest benefits, while vulnerable groups, such as children without parents or those abandoned by their families, remain at significant risk. There are over 2 crore orphans in India, many of whom lack a safe place to live, nutritious food, and proper clothing. These children face uncertain futures, which is why building shelter homes is crucial. Our NGO, Sadguru Foundation, has taken a vital step by establishing a shelter home in Mumbai to provide these children with safety, care, and hope. Our Shelter Home:
Sadguru Foundation opened a shelter home in 2014, and since then we have been building this family brick by brick. We started with a single child, and now we have 36 of the most wonderful kids in our shelter. We take care of their daily food requirements, educational support, and clothing needs. We also provide for their tuition classes to help them cope with the years of education they have lost because of their difficult childhood. These classes not only help with building a strong foundation for them but also help them in their daily school work. Our shelter home also has a caretaker who looks after the needs of the children in our shelter. We also have a facility for everyone to celebrate their special days with our children in our shelter. This not only helps our children to socialize with the outside world but also helps other members of society to experience and understand the lives of orphans in India. The caretaker also makes sure the children in our shelter home are physically healthy, so they are encouraged to play outside every once in a while.
Education is an important ladder for all members of society. But for the most disadvantaged children in society, this is essential not only for a good future but also for their future generations of families. Education provides them with confidence, and as a tool, it helps them find more opportunities for themselves. That is the reason we have enrolled our children in regular schooling. The school teachers are aware of the special needs of these children and make sure they are attentive to their unique challenges. Even after the tuition classes, our caretaker makes sure that every child can cope with their daily schedules and get better at their interests.

As with all other social organisations, our shelter home also faces many challenges. One of the most significant challenges is food. Food is an essential need for the growing children of our shelter home. But some days, even we struggle for the same. This is the reason we need support from people like you. Your support can be in the form of anything. It can be being part of our shelter and spending quality time with kids, or it can be volunteering for our efforts to provide a good life to these children, or it can simply mean a donation to support these children in achieving their dreams in the future. Our dream is to make sure no child is left behind in India. To achieve the same, we want to be able to start more shelter homes where most of the vulnerable children live. These include shelter homes in cities like Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Lucknow, and Jaipur. But with your support, we think it is possible.
