Old age is the time of a person's life that is said to most closely resemble their childhood in some aspects. The older a person gets, the more dependent they become on their family. But what happens to a person whose family is not supportive of their elders? This was the case for Kavita, who used to stay with her family. Her life took a tragic turn when her husband and elder son passed away one after another. Her younger son did not support her, and with time, the burden of the family and her grandsons came on to her. After her younger son left the house and never came back, all hope was lost for Kavita. She and her grandsons lived alone and were barely able to survive. Although she worked as a maid, she could not provide all the basic needs for herself or for her grandchildren. Luckily, she discovered the “Sampurna Poshan” Initiative by Sadguru Foundation.
Our social organization has started this initiative with the sole objective of eradicating hunger in India. Volunteers from our NGO take part in awareness campaigns and look out for people like Kavita to help them receive healthy and nutritious meals. Kavita is provided with regular rations and meals to make sure her family of three can sustain and thrive in good health. All three of them are living a healthy life now, and she has even enrolled her grandchildren in school to provide them with a better future.
