Festivals: The Heartbeat of Indian Culture

A festival is a cultural event we celebrate to bring people closer and grow the bonds between them. Festivals not only help preserve cultural heritage and history but also give people a sense of purpose. It increases unity among families and community bonding. Therefore, festivals are an important part of our society and form an essential element of social cohesion.

About Raksha Bandhan: A Bond of Love and Protection

Raksha Bandhan is a festival that celebrates the bond between a brother and a sister. It signifies the bond of protection and care between the siblings. A sister ties a Rakhi around her brother’s wrist and prays for his wellness, while also symbolising the belief that the brother will always be there for her protection. This festival is celebrated with enthusiasm all over India. Its significance is relatively more important these days, with the increase in nuclear families.

A Life Without Bonds

For the children without any guardians, life is already difficult. For these children, there is always an absence of a sense of belonging or family bond. This is one of the reasons festivals or events celebrated with them bring them genuine joy and happiness. Festivals and rituals celebrated with orphans bring them a sense of community and identity.

Celebrating Raksha Bandhan with Orphans

The Sadguru Foundation is an NGO, or non-profit organisation, that was established for the simple reason of helping people in need. Supporting orphans was one of the major reasons for the establishment of this social organisation. Therefore, we attended this orphanage with the hope of helping the children without any guidance in their lives. We need people to support our cause and celebrate festivities such as Raksha Bandhan with our children to bring joy to the most deserving individuals in society.
From the whole team at Sadguru Foundation, we wish

“Happy Rakshabandhan”.
